Remediation projects are a specific type of design project that maintains the bulk of the asset in place and seeks to intervene via repair or augmentation. in the case of a remediation project, in a remediation project augmentation is intended to reinstate capacity lost via deterioration or damage. augmentation may alternately be undertaken to augment a structure’s function (i.e. a new or wider access way, for adding height, length or a new berth as an example). these instances are described under upgrade projects.
