Sureside provided services to Cardno Emerging Markets which planned and designed port redevelopment for the upgrade of container trade to Nauru. The island is located in the Pacific Ocean and has the significant burden of high costs and low frequency of container trade due to its pre-existing loading and unloading arrangements. A shallow limestone reef that quickly dives to depth a short distance from shore. The port remains partially exposed due to these constraints, which makes functional design critical to ensure appropriate conditions are available for vessel arrivals, departures, loading and unloading operations.
