Sureside provided construction phase monitoring services to Parks Victoria for the rehabilitation of middle brighton pier.

the asset is a unique structure in that it was constructed to a very low level. owing to its low level, the structure regularly and strongly interacts with local seas generated by local storm events. unfortunately, the original detailing of the connection between the deck and its bents was not appropriate, so the beams shall move with wave actions and incur distress. additionally, the concrete piles and crossheads were selectively established by previous condition assessments to have deteriorated and would require rehabilitation in order to extend the life of the structure.

sureside was appointed by parks victoria as their technical representative and was tasked with approving repair quantities, including the identification of repair extents. sureside worked alongside parks victoria’s contractor to progressively quantify repairs, additionally sureside provided techincal support and durability advice to supplement information provided in design documentation.
