renewal design projects normally comprise projects that seek to renew or otherwise to upgrade an asset by essentially demolishing and beginning again. in some cases, some components may find reuse where asset managers wish to limit investment. this may include assets within a broader facility. renewal often implies upgrade as contemporary standards commonly exceed those of the existing asset. often, concurrent upgrade of the asset is also undertaken (or necessary to meet contemporary functional standards).
