dredging strategies entail understanding coastal littoral processes and implementing management measures aimed at minimising impacts of any changes or managing effort and costs associated with ongoing aspects of legacy changes.
dredging strategies are in fact central to a good proportion of maritime projects, even when these are not explicity called for. its important when altering any coastal features, including infrastructure, that the implications of these changes upon sediment movement, erosion and accumulation are considered and understood. in some cases this can be assessed simply ‘by inspection’, but commonly more detailed assessment is warranted to appropriately understand the complex processes that affect coastal changes.
