Sureside provided construction phase services (‘cps’) to Parks Victoria for remediation works to the cowes jetty approach crossheads. Parks Victoria were seeking a technical supervisor to undertake site inspections over the course of the Remediation Works to ensure that the works met design intent.
sureside encouraged a collaborative approach with marine & civil to undertaking the works, warning that the design was based upon limited information in numerous respects. the intial phase involved marine & civil pre-measuring the structure to ensure the augmentation elements would fit.
the structure in turn threw up several anomalies in its shape that included significant variations from vertical that were not obvious from visual observation alone. fortunately, the adjustability that sureside incorporated into the design sufficed in all circumstances, which was not expected at the outset.
the project benefitted from an experienced engineer with a practical mindset being available on site to collaborate with the contractor and effectively communicate the challenges that applied to the project.
