sureside consulting was established in 2016 by its founding director, matthew killian, in an office located on richardson Street, albert park.
the concept for sureside consulting emerged from discussions between matthew and his colleague. discussions centred around frustrations of both surrounding the constraints of servicing our valued clients from within a large multidisciplinary consultancy.
whilst frustrations with our situation were very real, we also knew that we enjoyed the benefit of outstanding support from management. this had allowed us to service our clients to a degree where we had built a significantly larger and more capable team than had existed upon commencement. it was difficult to envisage that we could be supported any better, given the realities of the large multi-disciplinary consultancy business model. this was in fact the impetus for considering an alternative, where we could benefit from greater control in order to reliably service the needs of our clients, with whom we had built highly valued relationships.
sureside, as the project had preemptively been named, was scheduled for incorporation in 2018. however, in 2016 matthew unexpectedly left kellogg, brown & ROot due to personal circumstances and since that time has focussed upon both family and his personal circumstances through 8 years to 2024. sureside has operated continuously over this period. in 2025 and 2026 sureside shall focus upon building its capability and systems in line with its organisational objectives.
key outcomes from organisational planning at sureside’s commencement meant that sureside has always intended to remain boutique. the Scale of the organisation shall always reflect the size of the market that we operate within. It shall never be the intent of sureside to ‘occupy’ a market, but rather to supplement and complement the presence and activity of other consultancies.
sureside currently operates with a lone director and engages subconsultants when necessary to provide additional capability and capacity on occasions as required.
